FAITH: the basis of all our thoughts and actions, given to us by God and sustained by Him (Ephesians 2:8, Hebrews 12:2).

ORTHODOX: right thinking, the attempt by man to conform all his thoughts to God’s thoughts by ongoing study and worship (Philippians 2:5).

PRESBYTERIAN: our form of government consisting of elected elders and deacons whose duties and qualifications are outlined in Holy Scripture (1 Timothy 3).

CHURCH: those who have been called out of a state of sin and separation from God into salvation and life through Jesus Christ (Colossians 2:13, Acts 2:47).

A Brief History

God is Gracious to His Faithful

Faith OPC in Grants Pass, Oregon was founded in January of 1977 in conjunction with a sister church, Trinity OPC in Medford. The two groups were established as a single missionary congregation, the Southern Oregon Orthodox Presbyterian Church, but were located in two separate communities approximately 30 miles apart. Calvin Malcor preached in both places for the first year. Medford would hold their service at 10 AM; Calvin would leave immediately and drive to Grants Pass so as to arrive and give the message in the latter part of our 11 AM service. Sometimes we sang a few extra songs while waiting for the preacher to arrive. After the first year, Jay Milojevich was brought in to help. He settled in Grants Pass as the assistant pastor. The congregation grew and formally separated on July 1, 1983, into two churches. Mr. Malcor stayed in Medford while Mr. Milojevich became pastor of Faith OPC.

In June of 1989 we moved our morning worship services from the SDA youth chapel to a public middle school gymnasium. In December of 1989, Faith OPC was able through the grace of God to purchase property with an existing church facility. With careful planning, good stewardship, and the obvious blessings of God, the original obligation was reduced to zero, so soon there was no debt. We have done a number of upgrades to the facility on a cash basis. To God be the glory.

In early 1991, Pastor Milojevich resigned his pastorate but continued to help with pulpit supply and oversight while we searched for a new shepherd. Pastor Larry Conard became pastor in the late summer of 1992.  Pastor Mark Sumpter is the current pastor.  We have since purchased property at the north end of Grants Pass but have yet to build.  We’ve come a long way from the initial four families in the Grants Pass area. God has truly blessed us as we have sought to serve Him.

What We Believe

The sovereignty of God - that He created all things, that He is Lord over all things, that this is His world, and that He is in control.

A total world view - that all thinking and actions stem from a faith, that consistency requires continual checking with that faith, and that the whole Bible is the only basis for the one true faith.

A positive future outlook - that God will ultimately triumph, that He through Christ and His Word has assured us of His victory, and that God is continually consolidating His victory throughout history.

The law of God - that the whole Bible reveals God’s law, that His law is absolute and unchanging, and that human law should conform to God’s law.

The reformed perspective - that we, as our Reformation forefathers before us, need to continually reform our lives according to God’s Holy Word and His living example as shown through Jesus Christ
